Wales: May 2013
-Cwmdu (somehow pronounced coombe-dee), volunteering with a family just outside Brecon Beacons National Park to work on reconstructing a 16th-century barn
-Vale of Glamorgan- Volunteering to learn about limestone building on a 30-room manor house from the 1500s
-Crymych- Helping to convert a 17th century barn into holiday rentals

England: Apri2013
-The Grampus Inn, volunteering at a pub in Lee Bay on the North Devon coast, then off to London for a few days to see the marathon

Spain, March 2013
-Barcelona
-El Perelló, volunteering through HelpX on a small campground run by a Holland-born woman
-Southern Spain vacation with John's family through Granada, Ronda, and Córdoba
-Madrid exploration and a brief stint volunteering though HelpX at La Catedral de Justo in a town just outside of Madrid

United States (Meggan) and Turkey (John), February 2013
Chowgypsy used her flight benefits (thanks for being a retired Delta employee, dad!) to buy a low-cost ticket back to the States for February in order to ramble around Atlanta with some friends and visit the family in Florida, Iowa, and Savannah. Meanwhile, John will be slaving away on a couple of farms in Turkey.

Greece, December & January 2012/13
-House/pet sit in Elea
-Stay at Hotel Byzantino in the fortress town of Monemvasia, the "Gibraltar of the East"
-Volunteer on an olive farm in Zacharo
-Play tourist in Athens

Turkey, November & December 2012
Our Israel experience was cut short due to the possibility of war breaking out, so we "fled" to Turkey.
-Volunteering at a permaculture farm north of Istanbul in Kerpe, near the black sea.
-Off to Istanbul for three days to eat as much as possible.
-Spend a couple days in Kusadasi to visit the ruins of Ephesus.

Israel: August-October 2012
John and I arrived to Eilat at the end of August, where he taught Scuba diving through late November, and I volunteered on a couple of farms. The first was at a "zoo" in the Arava desert, and the second at a small arts and crafts farm in Meggido in Northern Israel. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to really explore the northern half of the country before feeling like we should leave for safety reasons, but I did get one day in Jerusalem :/

France: Summer 2012
-Vitrolles- Couchsurf with Muriel

-Wwoof at the Sambuis farm outside Lyon in Saint-Savin
"Home accommodation is a caravan, meals are eaten as a family. In June there to pick fruit (raspberries, cherries), the vegetable garden and our land and DIY (about 5 hours a day, six days a week). It is varied and not too hard! There are walkways in the area (on foot, by bicycle) and places to visit."

"We raise sheep for their wool and meat (although we are more vegetarians!); Goats and produce cheese, chickens and all family members (from egg to chick and the chick in the chicken or the rooster). We grow fruit trees, shrubs and berries cook excellent jams. Our garden gives us some vegetables. We sell to the market three times a week. ... We would be happy to share the varied activities of the field with WWOOFers happy to celebrate life in truth and simplicity of heart."

"27 hectares fully organic farming started in 2004. We're not from farm backgrounds and have learned everything there. Part livestock: sheep, pork processing. [We rent]: cottages, rooms and camping. We want to welcome WWOOFers part gardening and especially on small projects that require several people (sanitation lagoon, pruning, wood chips ...) You can work on animals (pigs and cheeps), and on plants. -Head to Paris where we'll housessit for John's godparents' daughter's apartment fora WHOLE week
-Our final farm experience ends in the Beaujolais region at "La ferme de L'anneau D'or" (the Golden Ring Farm). 
"We're five partners working on the farm with our 120 goats and 25 cows and all the milk is transformed to cheese . Wladek and myself live 2kms away in a little village, Lamure sur Azergues. We're happy 'cause there is still a train station with trains going to Lyon , Orleans etc. Please don't forget that we lead a very " simple " life." Golden Ring Farm Website

Switzerland, August 2012
Head to Neuchâtel, Switzerland to visit John's godparents for a few nights.

Germany August 2012
Make our way up to the black forest of Germany in isolated little Hayingen to stay with my parents in a cabin for an entire week!! Wahoooo!

France August 2012
Final visit to France in Strausbourg to visit a family friend
